HGV Class 2 and 7.5T Drivers

Tunbridge Wells

£18.00 per hour or £864 per week (inc holiday pay)

12 hour shifts guaranteed

Overtime Pay available

A well known British retailer is seeking experienced and customer focused HGV Class 2 and 7.5T drivers to join its busy transport team located in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

To succeed in this role you must be polite, helpful and of clean appearance as you will be delivering orders direct to and in to customers homes.

This job is currently advertised as temporary but has the potential to become permanent over a short period of time.

The Role

Delivering and assembling quality furniture in customer’s homes with the assistance of a drivers mate within London and the surrounding areas.

Please note that this furniture is very simple to install when compared to other volume Scandinavian and Catalogue suppliers.

You will also be provided with furniture assembly training before you are ready to be assigned a route.

Rota & Shift Times

Our aim is to give drivers a regular specific round, so you can get to know your routes. We do ask for a degree of flexibility to cover other rounds when needed, to support your colleagues.

You will work a 3 week rota as follows;

  • Week1 – Monday to Thursday
  • Week2 – Wednesday to Saturday
  • Week3 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

Start Times – 5am to 6:30am

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Ensuring orders are delivered and properly assembled in customers homes.
  • Completing vehicle checks and reporting defects to the fleet controller
  • Ensuring your vehicle is clean, tidy and ready for the following day
  • Ensuring all paperwork is completed and signed upon delivery

Key Requirements

  • Good geographical knowledge of and confidence in driving in and around London.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as being self-motivated and happy to help others
  • Good manual handling skills and a good level of fitness.
  • Ability to follow simple furniture assembly instructions
  • A full and valid driving licence, valid CPC and digital tacho card
  • At least one years delivery driver experience
  • Minimum of 6 points and no significant endorsements
  • No drug or alcohol abuse
  • A DBS check will be required at the time of hire for those drivers who do not currently have one
